In Cold Blood

In Cold Blood

Whiskey | Cynar | Vermouth

The In Cold Blood cocktail is a modern riff on a Boulevardier (including Little Italy and Man About Town) , known for its deep, herbal complexity and a signature salty finish. Created by Andrew Volk at the Hunt & Alpine Club in Portland, Maine, the drink was inspired by and named after Truman Capote's famous 1966 true crime novel. In another episode of great writers that drank to excess, Capote was certainly one of them. A flamboyant and unpredictable character fond of many spirits (and drugs), his ways ultimately did him in at the age of 59. But at least he left us two iconic novels and many other works. As Truman put it himself, “I’m an alcoholic. I’m a drug addict. I’m homosexual. I’m a genius.”
