Orgeat (pronounced or-zhaat) is a sweet, opaque syrup traditionally made from almonds, sugar, and a touch of orange flower or rose water. Originally derived from barley (the French word for which is orge), modern versions have transitioned almost entirely to an almond base to provide a richer, nuttier flavor and a creamy texture.
