Fernet

Fernet

Fernet is an intensely bitter, aromatic Italian spirit that belongs to the amaro (bitter liqueur) family. It is distilled from a base of grape alcohol and infused with a complex blend of herbs, roots, and spices—commonly including saffron, myrrh, rhubarb, chamomile, aloe, and cardamom. It typically sits around 39% to 40% ABV. It has a notoriously aggressive, medicine-like taste. Sips reveal deep layers of earthiness, extreme bitterness, and a sharp, refreshing menthol or eucalyptus finish. Argentina consumes over 75% of the world's fernet. It is home to the only Branca distillery outside of Italy.
